Teaching Assistant (Psychology Graduate) – Primary School, Wandsworth

Location: Wandsworth, London
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: £90–£110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: October 2025 start

Academics are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join our friendly primary school in Wandsworth as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about child development, mental health, and education — and who is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or child therapy.

Key Responsibilities

*

Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, particularly those with SEN or social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
*

Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting materials to meet individual learning needs.
*

Implement behaviour management strategies and promote emotional regulation techniques.
*

Support pupils’ social and emotional development, encouraging confidence, independence, and resilience.
*

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to monitor and assess pupil progress.

Person Specification

*

A degree in Psychology (or a related discipline).
*

A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development.
*

Understanding of child development, behaviour, and learning theory.
*

Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
*

Previous experience working with children (in schools, tutoring, volunteering, or youth work) is highly desirable.
