FAQ's

Why register with My NQT Year?

My NQT Year is the ONLY website set up exclusively for NQT jobs in the UK.  We have long term, established relationships with Primary and Secondary schools throughout the UK, and have in-depth knowledge of our clients’ school ethos, recruitment strategy, and job and candidate specifications for their NQT jobs.  As a result, your consultant will work closely with you to find the right teaching job, in the right school, and with the right support, to allow you to complete your induction year.

What type of teaching jobs can I find with My NQT year?

All teaching jobs on My NQT Year have been specifically qualified with our clients and are suited for newly qualified teachers.  The vacancies will usually be offered as either long term contracts for up to one year, or on a permanent contract directly with the school.  From time to time we may also list NQT jobs which are offered on a short term basis, perfect if you decide to gain more classroom experience before beginning your induction year.

How do I register?

First, you’ll need to get in contact with one of our experienced consultants. You can do this either by applying to one of our advertised vacancies, or you can find contact details for your regional office HERE.  Alternatively, you can always complete our Quick Sign-Up section with your contact details, and one of our consultants will get in touch.  To complete your registration, we will arrange a face to face interview, during which we will also complete relevant security checks including DBS check, references, ID checks and barred list check.

When should I register?

Simply put, the earlier the better.  We work with NQT’s every year, and one thing we have learnt over that time is that more and more of our client schools are keen to fill NQT vacancies as early as possible.  By registering with My NQT Year, you can concentrate on your teacher training, and let us make you aware of the right opportunities.  Our clients will often begin their September recruitment as early as Easter, sometimes earlier than that.  Don’t miss out.

Can I complete my induction year if I'm working through an agency?

NQT’s are able to complete their induction over up to 3 separate assignments in different schools, provided each job is for at least a full term.  If you would like to complete your induction year while on supply, your consultant are keen to complete your induction while on supply, we will work closely with you and ensure we find you a role in a school that will be able to provide you with the support you need.
You may work on a short term supply basis for up to 5 years from the date you obtained QTS.  Once 5 years has elapsed, you can only accept a teaching post which will count towards your induction.

How do I know which school will be right for me?

Your consultant will be on hand to offer advice whenever you need it.  In addition, we always suggest doing as much research as you can about the schools who you ask us to introduce you to.  Study the schools website, and also their recent Ofsted reports, and also find out as much as possible from your consultant, they have worked with their client schools for many years, and will be able to answer any further questions you may have.
