Do you hold a Level 6 qualification?

Do you have an ambition to gain a career within a secondary school setting?

Academics are currently in partnership with a large number of secondary schools and academy’s that are located throughout Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Currently we are in high demand for Instructors (also known as Unqualified Teachers) located in the following areas:

* Burslem
* Chell Heath
* Fenton
* Hanley
* Kidsgrove
* Longton
* Meir
* Newcastle-under-Lyme
* Sneyd Green
* Tunstall

Instructors can be utilised in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They have a subject specialism and they are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (planning, assessment, or training days) or they may also be required to cover lessons for teachers who are away from school due to sickness, self-isolation or for any other absences. An Instructor is not responsible for planning or assessing a lesson as the original class teacher will set work for students to complete and the Instructor will manage behaviour and ensure that students remain on task.

The benefits of working as an Instructor in a secondary school include:

* No lesson planning or marking!
* Along with your subject specialism, you can support a wide variety of subjects across the curriculum!
* Work alongside successful practising teachers to develop your education knowledge further!
* Flexible working – only want to work 3 days one week, but 5 days the next? Not a problem!

As an Academics Secondary Instructor, you will:

* Hold a minimum Level 6 Qualification (Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Graduate Certificate, BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma, Degree Apprenticeship, etc…).

* Have good classroom presence and excellent behaviour management skills.

* Have a positive can do attitude to respond to busy schools. Calls for work can be from 7:00am in the morning.

* Have flexibility between Monday to Friday. Usual working hours are between 8.30am-3.30pm

* Hold a current DBS that is registered with the Update Service or to be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with ourselves (cost applied).

Academics are a leading national education agency that specialises in the recruitment of permanent, long term and daily supply teachers and support staff. As an Academic's Instructor you will have a dedicated consultant who will support you with your career and who will give you access to a variety of flexible opportunities, all at great rates of pay.
