Job Title: Special Educational Needs Coordinator

Contract: Varied (Short, Long Term and Supply available)

Location(s): North Birmingham

Start Date: Immediate start

Academics are currently working with multiple schools in North Birmingham that are dedicated to providing exceptional education and support to students aged 4 to 19 with varied SEND needs, such as Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties and Social + Emotional Mental Health needs. They are committed to fostering an supportive and empowering learning environment that give students the tools to thrive academically, as well as socially, and emotionally.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and committed Special Educational Needs Coordinator to join our team. You as the successful Special Educational Needs Coordinator will play a crucial role in improving the education experience for all students with special educational needs at these schools, giving them the support and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.

As the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

* Identifying and assessing the SEND needs of students whilst collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to gather information.
* Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Education Plans tailored for individual students, ensuring they receive appropriate support and interventions.
* Providing guidance and support to teachers, staff, and parents on effective strategies and interventions for students with special needs.
* Collaborating with external professionals such as, educational psychologists and other health-care professionals to ensure a holistic approach to support development.
* Offering training and professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their understanding and skills related to Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.
* Promoting an inclusive and positive school culture where every student is valued and supported, in line with the schools ethos.

Qualifications:

* A recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO Award or equivalent).
* Experience working with students with the previously specified SEND needs.
* Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
