SEN Learning Support Assistant - Eastbourne - April 2024

Are you an ambitious individual looking to kickstart a career in education?

Perhaps you already have experience and would like a new challenge of working with secondary children with SEN?

A 'good' mainstream secondary school in a lovely area of Eastbourne is welcoming applications to their SEN Learning Support Assistant position. You'll be working with their cohort of SEN students who need additional support, going to different lessons with them helping to break down and adapt certain tasks to meet their needs. You will ideally have some experience either personally or professionally of working with/being around children with SEN.

Key benefits of the role of SEN Learning Support Assistant:

* A great stepping stone into other fields such as psychology and youth work
* Progression opportunities within teaching
* Term-time only which means lots of holiday!
* Secured work 5 days per week

What can you expect to do on a daily basis in the role of a SEN Learning Support Assistant?

* Work closely with the inclusion team and teachers to understand the needs of the children
* Ensure that equipment and facilities are safe for the children to use
* Listening closely to the teacher to understand the task and then adapting it accordingly if required
* Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately

What is required of you?

* A genuine desire to work with children with special education needs
* A caring, compassionate and resilient nature
* A 'can-do' attitude but also being pro-active rather than always waiting for direction
* You will require a DBS check (which we can support you with)
* You must not be barred from working with children
* You will have grades 9-4 (A*-C) in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
