Are you a recent psychology/criminology graduate looking to kick-start your career in the Mental Health Sector? Are you looking for a role where you can support the mental health of young people?

A well-respected Specialist School in Reading is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The pupils’ range between 5 and 18 years and have a range of difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression and behavioural issues. The students therefore need a Mental Health Assistant who is understanding, proactive and ready for a challenge!

The children in this SEMH School have extremely complex needs and therefore require a Mental Health Teaching Assistant who is open-minded, resilient, and knowledgeable about mental health. The perfect candidate will therefore have experience with SEN children and/or adults in any setting. Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling would be perfect for this position.

The school has small class sizes to allow for greater 1:1 time between pupils and the staff. The school also focuses on promoting inclusivity and diversity in every aspect of school life. It encourages the development of appropriate social skills and uses positive thinking to overcome any school-related issues. The successful Mental Health Teaching Assistant will therefore be ready to adopt the schools ethos, and bring enthusiasm, passion, and a positive attitude to the classroom.
