Academics are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate Residential Support Workers to join a Children's Home located in Basingstoke, attached to a 'Good' SEN school. You will be working in a comfortable and warm environment that supports the needs of children between the ages of 7-19 years who have autistic spectrum disorder and/or complex needs.

These are on-going supply contracts, with possible temp to perm positions available. Starting ASAP - offering full-time, part-time and term-time contracts. A full-time role is 42.5 hours per week - shift is 7am-10pm.

You will be joining a hardworking and compassionate team of Residential Support Workers in a very special home for children and young people. You will be responsible for making sure that their daily living experiences and activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.

Previous experience of working in an SEN/care environment is desirable although training and support is provided to help you progress to become a qualified Residential Support Worker, and further develop your career.

You will need the following characteristics to be successful in this role:

Resilience – They support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
Communication – Communicating with their young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
Organisation – You’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
Attentive – No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.

Above all, they provide a supportive and collaborative working environment where you can flourish in your career and feel incredibly rewarded by helping those who need it most.
