The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant in this Yate school, you’ll work closely with teachers to support students with a variety of needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and physical disabilities. You’ll help students engage with the curriculum, monitor their progress, and foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Beyond the classroom, you’ll assist students during breaks and school activities, ensuring their safety and encouraging their social development.
Key Responsibilities
* As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-on-one or small group support to help students access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
* Assist in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), tailoring resources to meet students’ specific needs.
* Monitor and report on student progress, sharing updates with teachers and parents.
* Support students during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities, ensuring their safety and inclusion.
* Create a positive, inclusive environment that nurtures students’ emotional and social development.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students who may have complex requirements.
