Are you a graduate looking to launch your career as a Mental Health Assistant and make a real difference in children’s lives?

A leading specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) school in Oxford is seeking a full-time Mental Health Assistant to support children aged 4–11 with complex needs, emotional regulation difficulties, and behavioural challenges.

This role is perfect for Psychology, Counselling or Criminology graduates hoping to gain hands-on experience as a Mental Health Assistant before progressing into therapy, SEN teaching, or educational psychology.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

Provide one-to-one and group support for children with SEMH, trauma, and behavioural difficulties

Work closely with therapists, psychologists and other Mental Health Assistants
*

Build therapeutic relationships and deliver child-centred support
*

Observe clinical interventions and receive valuable mentoring

The school is looking for a Mental Health Assistant who is empathetic, resilient, proactive and ready to handle a challenging but deeply rewarding environment.

Requirements:

Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or similar (Level 3+ also considered)

Experience supporting individuals with SEN or mental health needs is highly desirable
