Clinical Teaching Assistant

Location: Stevenage

Full-Time | Permanent

Start Date: September

£460 – £500 per week

Sector: Education and training, Mental Health & Clinical Support

Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate in Stevenage or the surrounding area, eager to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of young people?

Do you want to build hands-on experience that can launch a career in clinical psychology, mental health, or education and training?

This Clinical Teaching Assistant role in Stevenage offers a unique opportunity to apply your academic background in a real-world setting, while building the practical foundation necessary to move into therapeutic, psychological, or clinical careers.

About the Role:

As a Clinical Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a specialist, multi-disciplinary team supporting students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs, medical conditions, and complex care requirements. Working closely with both clinical and teaching professionals, you’ll provide vital classroom support while also assisting with therapeutic interventions and emotional regulation strategies in the education and training sector.

What You’ll Gain:

* Real-world clinical experience in an educational setting — invaluable for further study or clinical roles.
* Ongoing mentoring from clinical and pastoral staff.
* A clear career path into roles such as Assistant Psychologist, Mental Health Practitioner, or Therapist within our wider Clinical Team (following a successful foundational period).

Key Responsibilities:

* Support students with complex mental health, emotional, and behavioural needs.
* Assist with daily care routines and therapeutic interventions in collaboration with clinical staff.
* Deliver one-to-one and small group support, promoting emotional regulation and resilience.
* Contribute to personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
* Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families to ensure holistic support.

Ideal Candidate:

* A graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field.
* Experience (or strong interest) in mental health, youth work, education, or support work.
* Emotionally intelligent, patient, and proactive — with a natural ability to build trust and rapport.
* Looking for a career-launching opportunity as a Clinical Teaching Assistant.
* Able to reliably commute to Stevenage.

Why Join Us?

* Be part of a supportive, specialist team focused on student well-being and trauma-informed care.
* Gain structured professional development and career advancement into clinical pathways.
* Work in a setting where no two days are the same — and every day brings the opportunity to make a difference.
* Join a positive, inclusive culture that values both student and staff growth.

Apply today to begin your journey as a Clinical Teaching Assistant in Stevenage and help shape the future for young people who need it most.
