SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Crawley and surrounding areas
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term (with potential for a permanent role)
Salary: £13.50 - £15 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Role:
Academics Crawley is supporting a well-respected secondary school in the Crawley area in their search for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs. The role involves providing one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Whether you’re an experienced SEN TA or someone with relevant experience looking to move into education, this school offers excellent training and support.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted support to students with additional needs, both in class and through individual or small group interventions
*
Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
*
Work closely with the SENCo, teaching staff, and external professionals
Requirements:
*
Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in a school or similar setting)
*
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning
*
Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable (but not essential):
*
Experience supporting students with EHCPs or in an SEN unit
*
Relevant qualifications in SEN, child development, or learning support
*
Training in behaviour management, Makaton, PECs, or Team Teach
