Mental Health Teaching Assistant – Trauma-Informed Primary School (Ages 5–11)
📍 Slough
💰 £85–£100 per day
🕰️ Full-time | ASAP Start

Are you passionate about supporting children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing? We’re looking for a calm, compassionate, and resilient Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a specialist trauma-informed primary school in Slough.

About the Role:
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children aged 5–11 who have experienced early trauma, attachment difficulties, or adverse life experiences. You’ll be part of a nurturing, trauma-aware team that puts emotional wellbeing and relationship-based support at the heart of everything they do.

What You’ll Be Doing:
✨ Providing one-to-one and small group emotional and academic support
✨ Helping children manage emotions, build trusting relationships and develop positive routines
✨ Assisting with classroom learning, social activities and sensory regulation strategies
✨ Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to create a safe, predictable and supportive environment

Why This Role Matters:
For many of these children, school is one of the few safe, consistent spaces in their lives. You’ll play a vital role in helping them feel secure, valued, and ready to engage with learning — making a real difference to their daily experience and long-term outcomes.

What’s in It for You?
✔️ Hands-on experience in trauma-informed education and mental health support
✔️ Specialist training and CPD opportunities in trauma awareness, de-escalation and therapeutic approaches
✔️ A supportive, experienced team focused on relationship-based practice
✔️ A brilliant foundation for careers in education, psychology, social work, or mental health services

About You:
✅ Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
✅ A genuine interest in mental health, trauma-informed practice and SEND support
✅ Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (desirable but not essential)
✅ Available for a full-time, ASAP start

Ready to Make a Real Difference?
Apply today and join a school where every child’s story is heard — and every small step forward is celebrated.
