Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a primary school setting? Luke Maling at Academics is working with a well-regarded SEN primary school in Haywards Heath, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help young learners with a range of additional needs thrive in a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities

*

Assist the class teacher in adapting and delivering lessons that meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student.
*

Work closely with the SENCO and support staff to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
*

Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that builds confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
*

Use appropriate strategies to support students’ academic progress, social development, and emotional regulation.
*

Assist with personal care and mobility support when required, ensuring all pupils are treated with dignity and compassion.

Requirements

*

Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a primary school or specialist setting.
*

A solid understanding of SEND strategies, including differentiation, positive behaviour support, and communication systems such as PECS or Makaton.
*

A patient, proactive, and caring nature with a genuine interest in supporting children’s development.
*

Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
