We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a SENDCO to join our thriving secondary school located in Chelmsford. From September 2025, we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic SENDCO to lead and shape the direction of our SEND provision. This is a non-teaching role, ideal for a passionate and organised specialist ready to make a difference.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the strategic direction and daily operation of the SENDCO function, managing the SEND department and coordinating provision for students with additional needs. Working in collaboration with a dedicated team and reporting to the Headteacher, you will ensure compliance with statutory requirements and champion inclusive practices across the school.

Strategic Leadership Duties Include:

Leading, managing, and overseeing the implementation of the SEND policy and strategy in line with national standards and the SEND Code of Practice 2014.

Producing reports for the Governing Body and contributing to the School Improvement Plan.
*

Coordinating provision for students with additional needs, including record keeping and liaison with parents and carers.
*

Supporting staff and developing SEND policy, plans, and targets.
*

Representing the school within SEND networks and staying current with best practices.
