Behaviour Support Assistant

A specialist school in Headington is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team for the new academic year. This is a full-time position supporting students with significant behavioural and emotional needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, adverse home environments, or disrupted education.

Your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant is an important one as you will be responsible for supporting the classroom as whole, while also being a right hand for the students. The students in this setting have had a complicated home life and struggle with mental health needs as a result. This often makes its way to behavioural needs, as these students try to navigate their way through their academics while learning to manage their mental health needs.

In your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant, you wil:

* Provide in-class and out-of-class support to students with behavioural difficulties
* Help students regulate their emotions using restorative and therapeutic approaches
* De-escalate challenging situations and promote a calm atmosphere
* Work with teachers and support staff to implement individual behaviour plans
* Act as a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships with students
* Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and self-reflection

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of young people who need consistency, understanding, and support.

This role would suit anyone passionate about behaviour, inclusion, or youth development. It is especially valuable for:

* Psychology, criminology, or education graduates
* Youth workers, mentors, or care workers
* Anyone with experience in behaviour support, SEN, or SEMH settings
* Those interested in careers in teaching, therapy, social work, or mental health
