Academics are hiring: Special Needs Support Worker (Autism Support – Residential) Barnsley South Yorkshire. Full/part time roles available. Flexible shift patterns.

We are looking for Special Needs Support Workers to join our caring, committed team in a warm & welcoming residential home for adults with Autism. This is more than just a job. It’s an opportunity to be part of something meaningful.

About the Role: As a Support Worker, you'll provide person-centred care & day-to-day support to adults with Autism, promoting their independence & wellbeing. No two days are the same. From helping with daily routines & personal care to encouraging social engagement & supporting activities, you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of the people we support in the Barnsley region.

Key Responsibilities: as a Special Needs Support Worker (Autism Support – Residential)

* Provide tailored support based on individual needs & care plans. Promote independence, dignity, & choice
* Assist with daily living tasks, personal care, & medication (where required, relevant training provided by setting)
* Encourage & participate in meaningful activities, both in the home & the community
* Build strong, trusting relationships with residents & their families
* Maintain accurate records & communicate effectively with the team

About You: as a Special Needs Support Worker (Autism Support – Residential)

* Kind, patient, & understanding. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
* A genuine interest in working with individuals with Autism
* Experience in care or Autism support is preferred—but not essential as full training is provided but the right qualities are more important.
